Firstly the candidate should visit the Income Tax Department official website and then the tax payers should select the Challan 280 for paying their Income Tax Due.

  • Then the candidate needs to choose the year of assessment option.
  • The candidates who are making tax payments should select (0021) INCOME-TAX (OTHER THAN COMPANIES) under tax applicable and then fill in the PAN and Assessment Year correctly. 
  • Then fill the address, phone number and email address. Then the tax payer should fill in the Bank Name and Captcha Code. 
  • The individual needs to choose the Assessment Year correctly when paying Tax due.
  • The candidates should select the Self-Assessment Tax option,iIf the financial year has ended. 
  • The Proper advance tax payments every quarter during the Financial Year help avoid Interest penalty on tax due and the Advance Tax is deposited during the Financial Year. 
Type of Income:

(100) ADVANCE TAX: Select this option for regular advance tax payments

(300) SELF ASSESSMENT TAX: The tax payer should choose this option if they are paying taxes after the financial year has ended.

(400) TAX ON REGULAR ASSESSMENT: The individual can select this option when demand has been raised by the Income Tax Department.

After choosing all the options correctly will be redirected to the Net banking page. Then the tax payer should double check the information entered. Then enter the income tax to be paid in the income tax field. The individuals need not fill the surcharge, education cess, interest and penalty options.

Then the Challan 280 will be displayed for the candidates. The person will be able to see all the details about their payment on taxpayer’s counterfoil and BSR code and challan number on the right side box. After the tax payment, report this information to the Income Tax Return. This can be done within ClearTax by "Adding an Entry" under the Taxes Paid page. The person should select the “Self Tax Payments” tab and enter the BSR code, a 7-digit number and challan number, 5 digit number from Challan 280. The Tax payment will appear in 26AS form in 3-4 days from the day of tax payment.
