HR Interview Questions and Answers for Freshers: The HR interview more often is not a selection process but a short listing process. So more than concentrating on getting selected, the candidate should be focused on not getting rejected. The way you answer the first few questions is very important. As the interviewers do not know anything about you, the impression you make in the first few questions is going to play a major role in the whole interview. 

Some Commonly Asked HR Interview Questions:

1) Tell me about yourself.

This is the most commonly asked question in any interview. The candidate can answer this question by giving details like education background, some information about your family – father’s profession, about your extracurricular activities or hobbies.

2) Why should I hire you?

The candidate can talk about the job requirements and can relate that with his qualification and skills. The candidate can also tell about his interest in the field he has applied for and can explain that he is the right person for that job.

3) What is your greatest Strength?

The candidate can analyze the requirements of the role carefully and list out the qualities required to perform the role. Then make a list of the qualities you have and match them with the requirements.

4) What do you want to achieve in the next 5 years?

This answer can reflect the ability to make plans for yourself, have an ambitious but realistic plan. You can say I would like to acquire certain skills and move into the next position. I will do some part time which are useful for my job. 

5) What is your greatest weakness?

The candidate can deal this question by offering a strength posing it to be a weakness or offer a weakness absolutely un-related to work or offer a humorous weakness. You can say that people say I am too conscious about the time to do everything but for me it is discipline and punctuality.

6) What makes you angry?

You can answer like, Getting angry is a natural human tendency but it is on us how to handle it. I generally don't get angry, but when someone takes advantage of my patience and takes me for granted then after certain point of time I lose my temper.

7) Why do you want to work at our company?

I believe your company is most suitable platform to earn learn, achieve and share new things. I can also show my ability and my skill as per the requirements of job.

8) Are you ready to relocate?

Say yes only if you mean yes because the interviewer might be planning to recruit you for a position in some other city. Giving them a false hope will not be good on your part professionally.

9) Are there any kinds of people you cannot work with?

You should respond positively because most of the work these days requires you to work in teams. So, you can say something like, I am fine with working all type of people as long as they are sincere to their work.

10) Do you want to ask us something about the company?

The candidate can ask some interesting questions like the opportunities to grow in the company, the expansion plans of the company and the role they are going to play in the company.

11) Can you work under pressure?

Working under pressure will always improve myself in my personal and professional life. This is the only time when you came to know how good you are in doing the quality work and manage the things.

12) Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

After 5 years, I would like to see myself in a responsible position where I want to be in a position that the company treats me as its asset. I am sure that this company can offer me such growth opportunities.

13) Are not you overqualified for this position?

No sir, I understand the difference between qualification and implementation. I am looking for the opportunity where I can implement my qualification. Learning never comes end.

14) Who has inspired you in your life and why?

Here, you can tell about the persons who inspired you like you can say Abdul Kalam is my inspiration. Even though he was a president he loves to be simple which took him to the greater heights in his life.

15) What are your goals?

The candidate can answer this question in such a way like my goal is settle in good position in reputed company. My long term goal is to acquire more skills and achieve a higher position in the field in which I am working for.

16) Are you willing to relocate or travel?

Relocating as well as travelling will add new experiences to my life as well as my work. It will grow my working agendas, as meeting new people will make me learn, experience and adopt smart ideas.

17) Tell me something about our company.

For example, say you are telling about Cognizant. You can say it is one of the leading IT company which is growing incredibly over the period of time. It mainly is a software company which part of the global IT market.

18) How much salary do you expect?

Salary isn't my first priority as a fresher. It is a great platform to begin my career and I also want to improve my knowledge and achieve experience. I expect a salary as per my ability and according to company norms.

19) What newspaper/magazine/book do you read?

Before answering this question make sure that you have read that newspaper/magazine that day or recently as they may ask questions from the newspaper or the book which you have told.

20) How you define success?

The candidate can answer it in his own way like success for me is doing the thing which gives me self satisfaction and peace of mind. By doing hard work and doing my work properly is a success for me.

21) Tell me something about yourself that is not written in your resume.

Here could discuss some personal traits or achievements which are not mentioned in the resume. If you missed out some points while writing your resume this is your chance to discuss them. Do not praise yourself all the time.
